FAO 27
Northeast Atlantic
The Northeast Atlantic, known as FAO zone 27, is one of the most important fishing areas in the world. It extends from the Norwegian Sea to the Canary Islands and includes valuable fishing grounds such as the famous Gran Sol, where our fleet has a fundamental presence. It also includes the rich waters off the coasts of Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country. It is a pillar of sustainable fishing for a wide variety of marine species of high commercial and nutritional value.
In the industry, reference is often made to this entire North Atlantic basin, which includes areas managed by NAFO, a term familiar to those of us in the fishing industry.
Frozen Wild Fishing on the High Seas and in Harbor
Our catch in the FAO 27 area comes from wild fishing, a method that respects the ecosystem and guarantees the authenticity of the product. The fish lives in its natural habitat, which ensures a product with excellent organoleptic and nutritional characteristics. Our fish is caught and frozen on board or in port, using advanced techniques that ensure maximum freshness and preserve the original texture.
This ultra-rapid freezing process not only protects the food from bacterial growth, but also keeps essential nutrients such as Omega 3 fatty acids, proteins, vitamins and minerals intact. It also contributes to food safety by reducing the risk of parasites such as Anisakis.
